Smith College
Liberty began her college search looking for a school that would allow her to continue her interest in visual arts and curation, AND also provide her with the opportunity to perhaps study neuroscience. Her application included samples of her art to demonstrate her artistic voice. In the course of working with her we also learned that she has a love of pure math, she is the student who wants to have many career paths opened to her.
Liberty chose Smith College, a liberal arts college with a strong art program that will also allow her to pursue her varied interests in the humanities as well as psychology. After taking more STEM oriented classes her freshman year, Liberty discovered that while she loves visual arts, she is interested in learning to create human centered design computer programs and is pursuing a dual degree in Psychology and Computer Science. Smith is the only all women’s college in the country with an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology) accredited engineering program which houses their computer science program. Attending a liberal arts college where she could take a variety of courses her freshman year allowed her to choose this path of study while still allowing her to take courses such as 3D Printing during her January mini-term.
